Slieve League Guided Hike for World Mountain Day  

To mark the week of World Mountain Day on December 11th 2026 we are Donegal bound the following day to hike one of our all-time favorites, Sleve League 

Slieve League otherwise knowing as the ‘Grey Mountain’ sits in the south west corner of Donegal and dominates the corner skyline of Donegal Bay. The mountain often mistakenly famed for been the highest sea cliffs in Europe, ranks in at number 5 on the list however it does claim bragging rights of been 3 times higher than the more famous sea cliffs in Co Clare, and in geological age host some of Ireland’s oldest rocks. 

This tour will see you climb the mountain from the Pilgrims path on the opposite side of the cliffs where we make our way past waterfalls and tpchurch ruins to reach the south east summit of the mountain to catch your first breathtaking views of the cliff face before continuing to the the main summit via the famous ‘One Mans Path’. Our return route follows the cliff face in the opposite direction to our climb route giving you a loop walk and a chance to see both sides of this magestic mountain. Our hike finishes at the famed upper car park above Bunglass which is home to countless Slieve League photos.

Expect to walk 10km and climb 600meters over the morning.
