Errigal Sunrise & Muckish Guided Hike  

We are off again to the hills of a Donegal with a fantastic two hikes in one day plan.

Taking place on Sunday 21st January we kick off the day with a climb the of the day before dawn to catch the sunrise from the summit of Errigal Mountain before breaking for lunch in the village of Creeslough where we recharge the bodies for a magestic hike along the miners way of Muckish Mountain

Errigal Sunrise Hike

The highest mountain in Donegal and one of Irelands most photographed peaks, Errigal is famous for its triangular shape and tiny twin summits. Our hike will begin at 7:00am allowing us ample time to climb the mountain before the break of dawn to see us arrive at the summit in time for sunrise. We rest and wait here while taking in the views over Lough Altan, the remaining “Seven Sisters” mountains and the Derryveigh Mountains as the sun rises over county Donegal.

Our decent from the mountain will take place under the dark skies guided by our leaders and head torch to kick off a fine day on the Donegal hills.

This is a short but moderate grade hike with steep and exposed sections along the route.

This is a moderate grade hike will see you climb over 520 meters, walk 7km lasting roughly 4 hours.

Muckish Mountain

Towering high above the village of Creeslough Muckish is locally known as “The Pigs Back” due to its unique shape among its sister peaks. We climb the mountain via the miners path, an exhilarating winding trail used by miners of old that leads to the moonscape rock field summit of Muckish.

Here we explore this vast summit boasting views over the North Atlantic and Donegal county.

This is a moderate grade hike with some exposed but safe sections.

Expect to climb : 500 meters

Start time : 12:30 pm

Duration : 4 hours
