Dust off the Christmas stuffing and join us on an adventure filled Sunset Hike on one of our local favourites, Kings Mountain. Following our mountain top sunset, a rising full Moon in the east will light the Glencar Valley on our decent.
Step back in Sligo history and hike to the magical summit of Kings Mountain overlooking Glencar and Sligo town while visiting the site of the Sligo Noble Six tragedy.100 years ago, on the steep slopes of Kings Mountain, coated in a mist of hazy rain, six men while attempting to flee to safety tragical met their fate in an encounter that would reverberate in headlines around the globe.
The is the story of the Sligo Noble Six, the counties tragic Irish Civil war story. Join our guides and follow the footsteps of four of the men while you learn about the event and how confusion at the time led to many variations of the facts surrounding the faithful morning. Now marked in history with a memorial cross erected on the site of the tragedy we pause here
Following the Nobel Six visit our guides will lead you higher to reach our summit where we await the sunset surronded by spectacular views over Glencar and Sligo Town.
Our hike will finish with a post sunset hike back off the mountain lead by our expert guides under the guidance of torch and moon light.
This Hike requires a minimum of 4 bookings to run. If this number is not reached 3 days before your selected date you will be issued with a full refund.

- Suitable for anyone with a basic level of fitness, a keen attitude and an adventurous nature.
- Allow 3.5 hours for hike.
Appropriate outdoor clothing necessary.
Example: Boots/appropriate hiking footwear, waterproof jacket/leggings, insulation layers. No denims.
Water and snacks.
Torches supplied but feel free to bring your own.
Experienced and fully qualified Mountain Leader.
Hikers may not be allowed to join group if not dressed appropriately for mountainous terrain.
Striclty no dogs.
