Sunset Hike Kings Mountain West Summit
Hike the majestic Kings Mountain overlooking Glencar.
Watch the Sunset from the summit.
Learn the story of the Sligo Noble 6 while visiting the site high in the mountain.
With the promise of sunny blue skies to continue, we are going full Irish style and grabbing it while its here !
Join us on an adventure filled evening as we chase yet another Sligo Sunset with a guided hike on one of our local favorites, Kings Mountain. Our team will guide you to the summit of this short but stunning climb to enjoy a mountain top sunset following a few mountain side stop offs, making for an epic evening in the Sligo hills.
In a change to our normal summit on this tour, we step left of the main gully to summit the Kings Table or the west/left side of Kings Gully. This will give us an uninterrupted view of our sunset.
Along our way we step back in Sligo's history with a visit to site of the Sligo Noble Six while following the route of 4 of these men, high into the mountain to where their story sadly ended. Moving higher along our route we reach Annach re Mhor, a huge natural fissure running through the landscape that allows us to step inside the mountain itself and feel very small between the walls of nature's building power!
Our climb continues until we reach the magical West Summit of Kings Mountain and what we come for, our sunset! "The Kings Table" summit boasts views of Sligo and Glencar and even comes with its very own mini version of Annach re Mhor for the exploring before settling down to watch the sunset.
From our vantage point, the Sun should kiss the horizon just beside the nose of Benbulben before setting in what should make for an epic sight!
Our hike will finish with a post sunset hike back off the mountain led by our expert guides under the guidance of torch and moon light.
