Sun Up 2 Sun Down - Errigal Sunrise - Slieve League Sunset  

Never ones to take the easy path we are off on an attempt to catch a golden Donegal Sunrise from summit of Errigal Mountain and then catch the Sunset on the sea cliffs of Slieve League followed by a Full Moon to light our decent off the darked cliff top. This ambitious plan will take place on Sunday 1st Feburary 2026 and kick off at Errigal Mountain in the early morning hours. 

Our ascent of Errigal will begin at 6:45am before sunrise and we climb the mountain via the southern path which has now been upgraded with trails and steps which will assist the climb in the low morning light. All going to plan we will wait out the sunrise from the summits epic twin peaks while before making our decent with the warming sun rising on our faces. Upon arrival back at our cars, you will likely be craving some breakfast, our team will be happy to recommend nearby options and highlight a few suggested “must see” along your way.  

Following our morning antics we each make our own way to the southwest corner of Donegal and home to Slieve League with its famous cliff face and the ‘One Mans Pass’  

We will climb the mountain via the Pilgrims Path which leads us onto the South Summit and our first big view of the cliffs, we track the cliff onwards from here towards the main summit making out way over the breathtaking but safe ‘One Mans Pass’ along our way. To keep us on the safer side of life we will return across the Pass before sunset and watch the spectacle from the south summit.  The full Moon will be rising in the northeast as the sun sets and our decent route off the mountain will see us walking towards it, lighting the waters of Donegal bay as it rises higher into the night sky.
