Clocks Change Sunset Hike - Kings Mountain

Hike the majestic Kings Mountain overlooking Glencar.

Make the most of the last long day of 2026 and watch the Sunset from the summit.

Learn the story of the Sligo Noble 6 while visiting the site high in the mountain.

To mark the final day of Daylight Savings Time we are embarking on a misson to max out the last long day of daylight in 2026 by hiking Kings Mountain to see the sunset before the clocks roll back overnight and the evenings slowly draw longer.

Taking place on the day of the clock change Saturday 24th October this adventure filled evening will see us chase the setting Sligo Sun with a guided hike on one of our local favorites, Kings Mountain. Our team will guide you to the summit of this short but stunning climb to enjoy a summit sunset following a few mountain side stop offs, making for an epic evening in the Sligo hills.

Along our way we step back in Sligo's history with a visit to site of the Sligo Noble Six while following the route of 4 of these men, high into the mountain to where their story sadly ended. Moving higher along our route we reach Annach re Mhor, a huge fissure running through the landscape that allows us to step inside the mountain itself and feel very small between the walls of nature's building power!

Our summit boasts views over Glencar Lake and Valley and Sligo Town, Sligo Bay and surrounding coastline where our sun sets for last time after 6pm until 2027 !

Our hike will finish with a post sunset hike back off the mountain lead by our expert guides under the guidance of torch light.
