Keeping up with our annual St Patrick's Day hike, we take on the steep but scenic slopes of Kings Mountain for our 2026 addition to this popular tour. Starting at 8am this hike will last approximately 3 hours 30 minutes leaving you ample time to enjoy the St Patrick's day festivities.
Step back in Sligo history and hike to the magical summit of Kings Mountain overlooking Glencar and Sligo town while visiting the site of the Sligo Noble Six tragedy.100 years ago, on the steep slopes of Kings Mountain, coated in a mist of hazy rain, six men while attempting to flee to safety tragical met their fate in an encounter that would reverberate in headlines around the globe.
Following the Nobel Six visit our guides will lead you higher to reach our summit for the day boasting spectacular views over Glencar and Sligo Town. This corner of the mountain range hides some of Sligo's most amazing sites like Kings Gully, Balcony Cave and Annach Re Mhor, a huge fissure cut deep into the mountain that invites you to explore the mountain from within.
We expect to return to our cars at approximately 11:30am.

Appropriate outdoor clothing necessary.
Example: Boots/appropriate hiking footwear, waterproof jacket/leggings, insulation layers. No denims.
Water and snack
Experienced and fully qualified Mountain Leader.
Hikers may not be allowed to join group if not dressed appropriately for mountainous terrain.
Striclty no dogs.
