Sunset Hike Benwiskin & The Gleniff Horseshoe
Evening Hike leading to Sunset
Benwiskin Mountain
The Gleniff Horseshoe
Watch the Sunset over the Atlantic from the a mountain top location
With the promise of good skies we are off again on an adventure to chase a sunset!
Join us on Saturday 11th July 2026 for an evening hike of Benwiskin Mountain and the cliffs of the Gleniff Horseshoe where we will finish our hike watching the sun set over the Atlantic from a loft mountain top viewpoint.
Located just north of the more famous Benbulben, Benwiskin is also known as ‘The Frozen Wave’ due to its unique and dramatic shape and is arguably the most exhilarating summit to stand upon in all of Sligo. The Glenniff Cliffs, known to us as Annaconna Top needs no introduction as this is one of the counties most photographed locations.
Our evening tour will take in Benwiskin’s narrow and exhilarating summit and the southern side of the Gleniff Cliffs including the Cauldron and the memorial site of two of Sligo's Nobel 6. Catch views of some roadside visitors from high above before we settle down for our Sunset show over the wild Atlantic views.
Our tour will conclude when the sun sets with an approximate 1-hour hike back off the mountain from our sunset viewpoint. Our team will have head torches on hand for the last section as night falls.
